NEUROTEC Interview Series #6 features Patricia Sánchez González, professor at GBTUPM, on pattern detection and validation of new imaging biomarkers for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases.

The NEUROTEC Community gathers researchers from different fields and disciplines focused on the study of the brain. “NEUROTEC Interview Series” will explore the work and careers of prominent members of the community.

Patricia Sánchez González

Patricia Sánchez González is Assistant Professor at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), director of the research laboratory of “Medical images, surgical training and image-guided surgery” of the Center for Biomedical Technology (CTB-UPM), senior researcher at Biomedical Engineering and Telemedicine Centre (GBT) and senior researcher at the National Center for Research in Bioengineering, Biomaterial and Nanomedicine (CIBER-BBN) of the National Institute of Health.
She is telecommunication engineer since 2006, where she started her spezialization in Biomedical Engineering (BME). In December 2011 she defended her PhD thesis, entitled “Laparoscopic video analysis for training in minimally invasive surgery and image-guided surgery”, in which she obtained Outstanding cum laude and the award for best PhD thesis from UPM.
She has participated in 18 national projects and 14 European projects. In addition, she has been the Spanish representative for two COST projects. Author of more than 40 journal articles (20 in Q1 journals), more than 100 international and national conferences, and 4 book chapters.

Rafael Yuste as keynote speaker at the MINA-CM Conference on Innovation in Neurotechnology and Neuroscience

On 24 April, a conference will be held in the Auditorium of the Hospital Clínico San Carlos to disseminate the advances in neurotechnology and neuroscience of the MINA-CM consortium, led by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The keynote speaker is Rafael Yuste, Professor of Biological Sciences and Neuroscience at Columbia University, who is leading the launch of the new Spanish Neurotechnology Centre (Spain Neurotech).
