Rafael Yuste as keynote speaker at the MINA-CM Conference on Innovation in Neurotechnology and Neuroscience

On 24 April, a conference will be held in the Auditorium of the Hospital Clínico San Carlos to disseminate the advances in neurotechnology and neuroscience of the MINA-CM consortium, led by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The keynote speaker is Rafael Yuste, Professor of Biological Sciences and Neuroscience at Columbia University, who is leading the launch of the new Spanish Neurotechnology Centre (Spain Neurotech).

The conference is part of the MINA-CM project, funded by the Community of Madrid, and coordinated by the Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine research group of the Biomedical Technology Centre of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. MINA-CM is a multidisciplinary consortium in neuroscience and neurotechnology that develops cutting-edge R&D&I for the study, early diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular and neurodegenerative pathologies.

In the auditorium of the Hospital Clínico San Carlos, from 9:30 to 14:00h, on 24 April 2025, different thematic sessions will take place, including the conference by Rafael Yuste: Spain Neurotech; A neurotechnology initiative for Spain, scheduled at 10:15h.

Spain Neurotech, or the National Neurotechnology Centre of Spain, is a pioneering centre in Spain and Europe created for the development of technological tools based on the fundamentals of the human brain. Spain Neurotech is one of the five centres in the world specialising in this discipline, and aims to promote the consolidation of the scientific community with expertise in this field.

The National Neurotechnology Centre of Spain will put the creation and development of technological tools at the service of health, and in the fight against certain clinical pathologies. Major advances are expected in the treatment of chronic diseases, in their initial stages, as well as in neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, depression, sleep disorders, circadian rhythm pathologies and acute brain damage.
